The objective
Some people are successful in driving a very successful internal career, and this results in them staying with the organisation and delivering great added value. How can we equip more people with the career attitudes and behaviours of these fast-trackers, and thus retain talent in the organisation?
Original research
- T&P carried out interviews with hundreds of high fliers in different organisations, to discover the realities of driving a successful internal career. We distilled this wisdom into the Drive Your Career! workshops, and supporting materials like the Career Tactics Card Pack with 48 practical daily and weekly career tactics – based on what successful people do.
Ongoing research & planned research
- Company specific career data. Drive Your Career! workshops act as a research engine; participants do pre-course work that collects data on how successful people find jobs, and how long these successful people stay with an organisation. This allows us to build a career management database for every client and answer participant questions with solid evidence of what works.
- Organisational loyalty. We are researching the CVs of highly successful people, with a specific focus on organisational loyalty; to put facts behind our interview observation that most people with successful careers are not organisation-hoppers.
- Research into senior careers. We are working with the Boards of organisations who want to retain Director candidates, to research what is looked for in jobs at the highest level. We are piloting senior manager career workshops designed to retain top talent and enable them to demonstrate their ability to make the leap into to a Director role.
- Global career research. What kind of people forge truly global careers, and what are the tactics that facilitate them to do this?
